AAD can now offer Hydrotherapy sessions with qualified Physiotherapists.
Hydrotherapy is a water based exercise regime specifically designed for your condition performed in a warm-water pool. When combining the warmth and bouyancy of the water with specific exercises, hydrotherapy is a relaxing and very beneficial and versatile treatment for many conditions.
Conditions treated:
•Musculo-skeletal injury
Muscle and ligament injuries
Post surgical rehabilitation - hip and knee replacement, cruciate ligament reconstruction
Post fracture rehabilitation
•Low back, Thoracic and neck pain
Sciatica
Whiplash
Chronic back pain
•Arthritis
Osteo-arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis
•Neurological conditions
Stroke (CVE)
Multple sclerosis (MS)
M.E/CFS (ME) Spinal injury and head injury
Muscular dystrophy
Parkinsons disease
Cerebral palsy
Following a full assessment of your condition, your exercise regime will be designed by our Chartered Physiotherapist. You will then be advised and guided how to perform your regime safely and effectively. The warmth and bouyancy of the water produces a number of benefits:
•Decreases pain and muscle spasm
•Increases movement and flexibility
•Enables relaxation
•Improves circulation
•Increases strength and endurance
•Improves function
•Improves cardiovascular fitness
•Improves well being and social contact
Your treatment sessions will more than often be in small groups. Hydrotherapy is suitable for non-swimmers and access to the pool is easy via shallow steps with hand rails or a hoist system.
If you are unsure if hydrotherapy is a suitable or beneficial treatment for your condition please call us to discuss your needs. To ensure that Hydrotherapy will not actually aggravate your condition, we ask you to have a release form signed by your GP.
Sessions are in 4 week blocks.
